Hello  and welcome to the Norfolk English Subject Leaders' on-line forum ! I'm really looking forward to sharing ideas with you and using this space to collaborate.  On my travels around the County I come across some brilliant and inspiring ideas from English teachers and this is the ideal opportunity for us to share these with each other.

  1. I have been doing some work with Year 9 boys, looking at writing and how to encourage them to participate.  The project involves them responding to a blog and so far there are some very interesting and worthwhile results to share with you at the Subject Leaders' Meeting this month.

  2. We could use this site as a repository for ideas and requests for help ... so here's my first request!

Does anyone have the mark scheme for this summer's AQA GCSE paper?!  I'm not sure if it is out yet.

    Thanks,

  3. Alistair.

You can order AQA mark schemes directly form the Board. I can provide you with a mark scheme for Spec A Paper 1 free of charge! Let me know if you want it. However, you might find one or two subject leaders who have already ordered copies of both English papers. Can any one help Alistair out more than me?

  4. Hi All!

Re: Shakespeare: Much Ado About Nothing

I have posted resources for teaching the writing skills for SATs questions on Much Ado About Nothing on my blog. Please look at http://elgg.learnblog.net/kiekopf/weblog

The lessons are to be taught after all the 'fun' bits, in preparation for the exam. Skills of using PEE and connectives, analysing and planning answers are taught. I have posted them as Word documents so that you can tailor them to your students' needs.

  11. At Wayland, we have already changed Year 10 to AQA after many years with Edexcel because the availability of resources is greater as is support from other colleagues in nearby schools.
