Having been frightened of technology for years, I am pleased to report a change in attitude. I realise that more able children find ICT stimulating and challenging and it is certainly the way forward for enabling students of similar ability, particularly in rural areas, to communicate with each other. I am currently working on an e-learning project with small groups of year 7 and 12/13 students, using visual art to stimulate online discussions. As a student of
Oxford Brookes University (and an Associate Tutor), the e-learning course has been an interesting experience; I am probably bottom of the class and realise how children feel when I am impatient with them when they find writing or reading difficult.
