Norfolk Children's Services are currently supporting all primary schools to complete the national Self Review Framework, a matrix produced by BECTA, NCSL and NAACE. This tool allows schools to get a detailed picture of all aspects of ICT. Successful ICT development allows schools to apply for the ICT Mark, a nationally recognised standard.
There are a number of consultants working on behalf of Children's Services to support head teachers and ICT co-ordinators to complete the self review. The programme is very well received in school. Here is what some heads and subject leaders said:
- Able to get a good overview
- Confirms my thinking
- Shows us the way ahead
- Shows us just how well we are doing
- This is much more on my agenda now
- I can really see what we have to do
- I’m going to make this a much more important part of the school improvement plan now
- It’s made it all seem manageable/more manageable
- It’s good to have someone to discuss the review statements with – to us, many don’t make sense
- Having the time (allocated and paid for) means that we have completed the matrix; otherwise we might not get round to it
- It’s helpful to have someone who is able to say, “You can shelve this aspect until sometime in the future; otherwise it’s overwhelming.”
- The process of moving from audit to action plan is very good
- When are you coming back again?
