Greg Dewar :: Blog :: RE Conference

May 18, 2008

In preparation for the Conference on "Innovative RE" tomorrow, I've made some Powerpoint slides on the different ways I'm using ICT to support my students' learning. Over the last year I've been using three groups of students to develop some ideas I've had:

  • Year 7 students used laptops and Windows Movie Maker to prepare presentations on heroes - they were able to research their chosen topic using Google and Wikipedia, then Move Maker to make up slideshows and movies to present to the class.
  • Year 10 Short Course Ethics students have been using Yacapaca as a revision resource for their exam this summer.
  • Year 12 Philosophy A Level students have been preparing powerpoint slides and audio podcasts as mobile resources for their exams. We've also got a Revision Wiki going, and I've started a revision blog so that they can write comments.

With the announcement of Norfolk's VLE Implementation, I'm interested in seeing how my different resources will integrate with the new service. We'll see!!

If you know what this is, point your phone at it!

  1. "Once students have got this software on their phones, imagine the possibilities!"

Ah, but since they can't bring phones into school... Wink

  2. True - but if a culture of "mobile devices for learning" breaks out, we may be revisiting the policies on Mobiles and MP3 players!
