Aim Higher Norfolk and Norfolk Children's Services have agreed to work together during the planned rollout of learning platforms to Norfolk schools.  The introduction of Virtual Learning Environments will provide schools with many opportunties to make the most of ICT for teaching, learning and efficiency.  The VLE can also be used to run programmes with external agencies to provide a more personalised learning experience for young people.  Schools will benefit from this partnership, particularly where existing or new mentoring programmes will include electronic communication.  E-mentoring has already been successfully used to engage young people and we are particularly keen to make this work for Norfolk.

We've just finished 1.5 days of 2 days training... The e-learning team have been busy getting their head around the using Netmedia MyDesktop, MyClasses and MyPortfolio.  Given the compressed nature of the training (double the time would have been sensible), there certainly was a feeling of being overloaded with information.  The MyDesktop part (which schools will be encouraged to use initially) was fairly straight forward.  It got a little more complicated, when we built our own efolios, which are placed in MyClasses.  Not everyone was keen on the interface, as it wasn't easy and straight forward in all places.  However, there is general agreement that the product is functional in prinicple and that it has enourmous potentential for schools and learners.  I'm looking forward to discussing the specific applications for Norfolk schools with colleagues tomorrow.  We will probably build up some examples to illustrate effective use for learning and other aspects of school life.
