The KS3 ICT Network meeting is supported through the Secondary Strategy.

The KS3 ICT Network meeting is a termly event, where people with an interest in developing the KS3 curriculum are getting together. Time is spent developing new teaching resources and sharing best practice with colleagues. The afternoon usually starts with sandwiches at 1 pm. We will start networking, discussion and sharing of resources formally from 2pm.

Objectives:

The following areas will provide the focus for the afternoon :

  • Update on 2007 test and results
  • Way forward with this year's test
  • New tools and curriculum resources (e.g. new books, online tools)

                                                                - please bring URLs with you.

  • The new Secondary curriculum

PLEASE BRING YOUR LAPTOP ALONG TO THE MEETING.

[This item has been extracted from a posting by Stephen Carrick-Davies that came via Becta's SafetyNet community.]

Following on from the launch of the DCSF guidance to schools on responding and preventing cyberbullying last week, Childnet has now uploaded the film it produced for the DCSF on its "Digizen" (digital citizenship) website.

The interviews with the characters in the film are particularly helpful in the learning context and there is an online Teachers' Guide for teachers to use this resource within Citizenship, PSHE, ICT etc. The resource is primarily targeted at KS3 but we have already had some head teachers tell us they would show this film to year 6.

We very much hope to have "hard copies" complete with a printed Teachers' Guide/Lesson Plan and Summary of the full guidance for distribution free to schools in time for the next National Cyberbullying Conference which we are holding with the DCSF at the Emirates Stadium on the 22nd November.
